Labour councillor writes to Reform administration accusing it of misdirection and threatening front line servives
By Nub News Reporter 26th Jun 2026
ONE of Thurrock's two remaining Labour councillors, Aaron Green, has written to council Leader Cllr Richard Bingley setting out concerns and seeking clarity on the direction of the new Reform UK administration.
The letter welcomes a focus on improving efficiency and securing value for money for residents, but stresses that Labour will oppose any measures that cut vital frontline services or reduce support for vulnerable children and families.
Cllr Green, who responded to an announcement by Cllr Bingley of ten major milestones for his group, highlights the importance of protecting SEND provision, home-to-school transport and social care, noting that these services are essential rather than optional.

The letter also challenges recent political claims about Thurrock's financial history, pointing to the role of previous Conservative administrations in the Council's significant debt position.
Cllr Green said Labour will judge the administration on its actions rather than its rhetoric and will continue to hold it to account in the interests of Thurrock residents.
