Lakeside's floating restaurant has sunk

PICTURES have emerged this morning (Friday, 23 December) of the Miller & Carter floating restaurant at Lakeside which appears to have sunk.

No details have yet emerged but there is widespread social media comment and many pictures have been published.

The restaurant is operated by the Mitchells and Butlers group whose spokesperson said: "We are aware of the situation at our Lakeside restaurant. Regrettably, due to the scale of damage we were forced to close immediately.  

"Our priority is our guests, and our teams are working hard to contact everyone who holds a booking with us to inform them of the unforeseeable incident and issue refunds as quickly as possible." 

A statement on the restaurant's Facebook page said: "Dear Guests, Unfortunately we will be closed until further notice due to structural issues.

"We will contact every guest as soon as possible, for safety reasons we are unable to access our restaurant to answer any phone calls.

"Management will be calling all guests with upcoming bookings. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused."

While a statement published on Miller & Carter Langdon Hills Facebook Page said: "We are aware of the current situation at Miller and Carter, Lakeside, if you have a booking with them today please give us a call on 01268 544714 or follow the link below to book your table at Langdon Hills instead.

"We will answer as many calls as we can to accommodate you. Please do not try and call Miller and Carter Lakeside at this time as they are working hard to try and rectify this situation."

"Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience".
