Large turnout at Stanford as community commemorates Remembrance

MANH hundreds of people gathered at the Green in Stanford-le-Hope to commemorate Remembrance Sunday (10 November).

The event began with a parade from St Margaret's Church by Army and ATC Cadets and represenatatives of many local youth organisations including scouts, guides and Corringham Athletic Football Club.

Many wreaths were laid from a wide range of community organisations, with the initial ones placed by Cllr Sue Shinnick, the borough's deputy mayor, East Thurrrock MP James McMurdock and local councillors from across the political spectrum.

The service was led by Rev Tom Rout and featured contributions from students from St Clere's and Hassenbrook schools. The head of hassenbrook, Sally Feeney, was among those who laid wreaths.

Music and sound for the event were provided by HPE Entertainment.
