Parade led to service at site of pilot's fatal crash

A PARADE led by air cadets and including civic dignitaries and local schoolchildren led the way to an annual service of Remembrance in Chafford Hundred today (Sunday, 10 November).

The parade left from Warren Primary School and arrive shortly afterwards at the memorial at Kershaw Close which marks the site of the crash in February 1945 that claimed the life of 2nd Lt Samuel E Kershaw who served with the 55th Fighter Group of the 8th US Army.

Among those who laid wreaths were borough deputy mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick and Thurrock MP Jen Craft.

Local youngsters from Chafford Primary schools and scout groups were among those to lay their tributes.

Music for the event came from Thurrock Spectrum Brass.
