RESIDENTS in Stanford-le-Hope are reflecting on another incident involving speeding cars in the town.

A man has been charged with drink driving following the crash on Victoria Road, a narrow residential street that is often used as a 'rat run'.

The incident occured on Friday night at around 11pm.

A vehicle hit another car, sending it crashing into a wall in Victoria Road.

A police statement says: "A man has been charged with drink driving following a collision in Stanford-le-Hope.

"It happened in Victoria Road at around 11.15pm on Friday 11 February.

"Mark Smith, 43, of Boyce Road, Stanford-le-Hope was arrested and has now been charged with drink driving. He's due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on 9 March."

It has been reported that a fire engine attending the incident arriving from London Road was unable to access Victoria Road owing to parked cars badly parked close to the Welcome Club delaying attendance considerably.
