A DELIVERY of help and festive cheer was made in Tilbury this morning (Monday, 19 December) when local lawyer Lorna Webster arrived with a food donation for Thurrock Foodbank at St John the Baptist Church in Tilbury .

The donation was made on behalf of law firm Hodge Jones & Allen. ahead of the festive period, providing families and those in need with essential food and some Christmas treats, to ensure the local community don't go hungry this Christmas.

During her visit Lorna said: "During a cost-of-living crisis, communities must work together to ensure we bring people out of food poverty. Many individuals across the country are suffering, and me and my employers, Hodge Jones & Allen, want to do everything we can to help the communities around us. I grew up in Tilbury and still live locally and so it is personally important that people in my home town know there is support available for them.

"The team at Thurrock Foodbank do amazing work, and we're proud to support the ongoing need for essential supplies, especially at this time of year."

Thurrock Foodbank opened in 2012 and helps those most in need and vulnerable by co- ordinating food and clothing donations. The Foodbank has sites across ten churches in the Thurrock area and works with the Trussell Trust to provide "emergency food and compassionate dignified support to people locked in crisis".

Father Tim Codling, the Priest at St John the Baptist Church said: "We thank Hodge Jones & Allen for its kind donation to the Thurrock Foodbank. The kindness of anyone willing to give something to those in need is truly inspiration and we are grateful to everyone who can make a small sacrifice this Christmas for a tremendous cause, whether that be monetary, food, clothing or their time, as generosity is fundamental to overcoming great adversity."
