Little Thurrock Primary to close for two day deep clean after coronavirus contact: Parents rush to take children out of classes

By Neil Speight   12th Mar 2020

LITTLE Thurrock Primary School in Grays is to close for the next two days for a deep clean after a possible contact with a coronavirus carrier.

A statement from the school issued today (Wednesday, 11 March) says: "As you will be aware from media reports, a case of coronavirus has been confirmed at a children's hospital in London.

"We have been made aware this morning that a sibling of one of our children who attends this school could have had indirect contact with this health worker.

"Following the report we have swiftly followed guidance and taken advice from the Public Health England Guidance and Department for Education.

"Although we do NOT have a confirmed case, in agreement with Trust and governors we have decided to take preventative measures by carrying out a deep clean.

"Consequently, we will be closed tomorrow Thursday 12th March and Friday 13th March and will re-open on Monday 16th March. You are welcome to collect your children early today if you wish. Please come to the main office to do so.

"We would like to reiterate the fact that we do not have a confirmed case."
