STAFF and pupils at a borough primary school have been celebrating a top reward after being judged one of the best in the country at promoting walking, cycling, and other forms of sustainable travel on the journey to school.

Horndon on the Hill Church of England Primary School has been nominated for the prestigious national Modeshift STARS School Travel Awards, reaching the East of England regional awards final after receiving an 'outstanding' grading for its work.

The regional final takes place next Thursday (17 October) and Horndon is one of only 140 schools across the country to get this far and, should it win, could go forward and represent the region at the national finals in London next March.
