Three hurt after being attacked by gang outside town pub in early hours of morning. Police, backed by plea from an anguished mum, have called for witnesses

POLICE are investigating a serious and violent incident in the heart of a borough town in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, 12 October).

They are asking for the public's help in identifying those involved in the assault of three victims in Stanford-le-Hope.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We're investigating an incident which was reported to us shortly after 1am this morning in Corringham Road, Stanford-le-Hope.

"It was reported that a number of men had assaulted three victims.

"One of those victims, a man aged in his 20s, sustained injuries to his face and torso. Thankfully, the two other victims were not seriously injured."

"Our investigation is in its early stages and we're following a number of lines of enquiry.

"No arrests have been made at this stage."

The mother of one of those injured has taken to local social media, adding her weight to the police plea.

She says: "My 20-year-old son was brutally attacked outside the Inn On The Green pub at approximately 1am. He had his head stamped on by between 10 and 15 lads and was threatened to be stabbed while they chased him.

"The assault was vile. If anyone please witnessed this or know anything please come forward."
