A THURROCK youngster has once again led his family efforts to pay tribute to the nation's military heroes and raise funds to help support those in need.
For a third year running seven-year-old Logan McCarthy, a pupil at Chadwell St Mary Primary School, has organised a raffle to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.
The main prize is a remembrance cake, baked and decorated once again by his mum Nicola of Oxford Avenue, Chadwell St Mary.
"He is amazing and a very special young man.
"We are so grateful to him and his family for what they have done and showing so much respect for the armed services," said RBL local president Rod Oakley.
Logan was inspired to do something when he saw stories about veterans and pictures of the First World War battlefields and old soldiers on TV.
"He said it was important to help and he came up with the idea of organising the competition to make money. I was only too pleased to help him," said Nicola.
So far this year Logan has raised £430. There is still time to buy raffle tickets, which are £1 a strip. If you would like to support Logan you can message Nicola via this link.
