ACROSS Thurrock this morning, at 11am on November 11th, tribute was paid to the nation's fallen heroes with moments of silence, prayers and tributes to mark Armistice Day.

Short ceremonies took place at memorials including Grays and Stanford-le-Hope while there were more personal moments at some others where there was quiet reflection.

At Grays the service was taken by Rev Canon Darren Barlow and attended by borough Mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick among other dignitaries while school councillors fom Grays' Woodside Academy were present and streamed the ceremony back to the school.

And at Stanford, where volunteers has cleaned and tidied the memorial yesterday, ATC Padre and Methodist preacher Maureen McPherson led a service.
