Long delays around QEII bridge after accident

SEVERE congestion is bring experienced in West Thurrock - and is expected to continue until late morning (Monday, 12 September) after a major accident on carriageways exiting the QEII bridge.

The accident incolving a car and lorry happened in the build up to the morning rush hour and blocked all four carriagways. Traffic immediately backed up over the bridge, causing tailbacks at access points to the M25 and further local roads in Thurrock.

Just after 9am it was reported on lane had reopened but the recovery of thevehicles involved in the incident was continuing and lanes would remain closed for some time. National Highways warned that delays could continue until around midday.
