AFTER a troubled few weeks, during which time many parents of current students attended question and answer sessions at Gable Hall School in Corringham to learn about changes planned for the future, families hoping and planning to attend the school in the 2023 academic year will get a chance to take a close up and personal look for themselves next month.

In the summer the school was adjudged as 'inadequate' following an Ofsted inspection – a decision that caused huge concern in the local community, the departure of the headteacher and appointment of an interim new head.

Parents were invited to the school to meet new interim head Gary Lewis (standing left) and Ortu CEO Dr Sophina Asong (at the microphone).

In a big to assuage parents' concerns the head of the Ortu Federation Trust, Dr Sophina Asong, and the chair of the Trust, Georgina Clark, hosted question and answer sessions for parents last month.

With children now back in school and an improvement plan in place – though it still has to be fully ratified by inspectors, children are now back in school and thoughts have already turned to the next academic year, with parents due to make education choices for their children.

Parents and children are invited to attend sessions at an opening evening to be held at Gable Hall on Monday, 3 October for children in primary schools from Stanford-le-Hope & Corringham and on Tuesday, 4 October for potential students from outside their catchment area.

Parents have the chance to meet teachers and current pupils to find out more about the school, but also take part in exciting activities and meet and speak to expert teachers and senior leaders at work including interim head Gary Lewis, staff and current students.

A wide range of advice and support will be on offer for all prospective students and parents to find out, from information about the school itself, teaching, pastoral support and much more.

Online coverage of the Open Events will also be available on the Ortu Gable Hall website and social media pages.

The sessions for local children, which start with a presentation from Mr Lewis, will take place from 5 to 5.45pm, 5.45 to 6.30pm and 6.30pm to 7.15pm on both days.
