Updated 2pm: Long queues northbound after Dartford crossing bike crash

By Neil Speight 4th Oct 2021

THERE were long delays on the anti-clockwise section of the M25 at the Dartford crossing this morning following an accident involving a motorbike.

The consequences have stretched well into the afternoon, with queues still going back miles at 2pm.

The crash, which is reported to have involved a broken down motorbike rider being hit by a passing HGV, forced the closure of the east tunnel and all traffic was filtered to the west tunnel which has a height restriction.

The incident happened at around 9.30am today (Monday, 4 October) and by 11am it was reported it was taking an hour to get through the long tailback which stretched several miles along the M25 - and also the M2.

A statement from Kent Police says: "We were called at 9.17am on Monday 4 October 2021 regarding the incident involving two vehicles.

"Ambulance crews are also in attendance and the east tunnel has been closed to traffic."
