A COLLISION between two lorries on the anti-clockwise M25 at junction 30 in Thurrock this afternoon (Monday, 16, March) caused severe congestion for several hours while they were recovered.

The incident happened around 3pm when the two articulated canvas-sided vehicles collided shortly after passing through the Dartford tunnel and crossing the Mar Dyke viaduct.

Recovery was expected to take several hours and traffic on the M25 backed up well into Kent, while adjoining roads north of the crossing also became extremely congested.

Late into the evening two lanes remained closed and National Highways said it was possible delays could continue until around midnight.
