Making connections with all ages - neighbourhood police officers were busy in the borough
By Nub News Reporter 25th Jan 2026
MEMBERS of Thurrock Police's Neighbourhood engagement teams had a busy week, with presentations to youngsters and older people across the borough about their work and community safety.
Among the presentations was a visit to Thors Oak Beavers in Stanford-le-Hope, after which officers said: "What an energetic, curious, and enthusiastic group they are!

"We talked about what policing in Thurrock looks like day‑to‑day, and the Beavers got a hands‑on look at police equipment.
"It was a great evening full of learning, laughter, and very thoughtful conversations."
Visits were made to South Essex College in Grays, Ockendon Library for the Belhus & Ockendon Community Forum meeting, The Beacon Centre in Chafford Hundred, St Peter & St Paul's Church in Horndon on the Hill, Stifford Sea Scouts, Thors Oak Beavers, East Tilbury Primary School and Collins House.
At the other end of the age scale, officers attended Collins House care home in Corringham to talk to residents and staff there.
A police statement said: "From schools and colleges to Scout groups and forums, your neighbourhood officers have been busy listening, sharing advice, and handing out crime prevention goodies across Thurrock."
