A SERIES of events will take place across Thurrock later this month and into October, offering residents the opportunity to share their views on the local impact of climate change.

Vouchers worth £25 will be offered to those who take part.

The project, entitled Catchment to Coast is one of 25 government-funded schemes and is intended to reduce flood risk, reduce coastal erosion and improve drought tolerance across Southend and Thurrock.

New and innovative measures will be trialled and data gathered on wider aspects such as water quality and habitats so that local, regional and national policy can be improved to allow adaption to a changing climate.

Residents will be invited to take part in sessions where they will watch videos and talk about strategies to combat the effects of water scarcity, flooding and coastal erosion with other local people.

A spokesperson for the project said: "Through the platform you will be able to vote on various questions and make your voice heard.

"We need to work together to come up with a plan. You don't need any special skills or knowledge to take part, other than your valuable lived experience. As a thank you for your participation, we will offer a £25 voucher."
