Man arrested after speedy police response to incident in village

POLICE have released details of an incident in East Tilbury yesterday that saw a number of police cars under blue lights descend on the village.

The significant response was in answer to residents' reports of a man with a weapon.

A police statement says: "We were called to reports of an offensive weapon in Sanderling Close at about 3.45pm on Thursday, 12 October.

"Officers arrested a man in his 30s at the scene on suspicion of common assault and public order offences."
