A MAN has been arrested in connection with an investigation into a suspected bomb hoax at Thurrock Council's offices yesterday that casued significant disruption.

A police statement says: "We received a report of a suspect package at the council's offices in New Road, Grays at around 3.30pm yesterday (Monday, 11 July).

"The building was evacuated and the nearby railway station disrupted.

"Officers attended and it was established it was a suitcase with nothing suspicious or of concern inside.

"Today a 52 year-old man from Grays has been arrested on suspicion of making a bomb hoax and possession of a knife. He is currently in custody."
