POLICE have confirmed their involvement in a brief incident at Mossbourne Fobbing Academy yesterday morning (Tuesday, 15 September) in which a man entered the school's grounds by climbing a fence.

They say he crossed the school area after getting past the fence, but then left by climbing another and left the area.

An alarm was raised when he was first spotted climbing the Corringham school's fence. School staff took precautionary action to hold some children where they were, but the short-lived incident fell short of a lockdown.

Police have also discounted any connection with an incident last week when a man in schoolgirl clothing was seen loitering near schools in Stanford-le-Hope.

The Mossbourne Trust has declined to comment.
