Man is arrested following assault on girl aged 11 on play equipment

POLICE are appealing for information following the arrest of a man after an 11-year-old girl reported she was assaulted while in a play area in South Ockendon.

The girl reported that the man pushed her in the chest as she used a climbing frame in Darenth Lane between 5.15pm and 5.25pm on Sunday, 19 July.

A police statement says: "We understand there was an altercation involving the suspect, the same girl and another man following the incident. The girl was not injured."

"A 34-year-old man from Grays was arrested by our officers on suspicion of assault and he remains under investigation."
