Man Tasered, arrested and taken to hospital after incident in Grays

POLICE have now released derails of an incident that happened in Grays on Sunday which resulted in a man being Tasered by officers.

A statement says: "We were called shortly after 10.10am on 16 May with reports of a disturbance at an address in Nutberry Avenue, Grays.

"When officers attended, a man aged in his 40s became aggressive towards them and threatened them with a hammer and an aerosol lighter.

"A Taser was deployed and he was arrested on suspicion of assault and making threats to kill. While officers were at the scene, it was established he had also taken a quantity of medication.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Due to the man losing consciousness, we have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct."
