There was significant early morning congestion on the A13 and through the streets of adjacent Stanford-le-Hope today (Wednesday, 19 May) after a lorry broke down in the roadworks just after the Manorway roundabout.

Traffic tailed back on the eastbound carriageway as far as the Five Bells roundabout after the breakdown, which happened around 6.15am.

Many drivers diverted through Stanford, causing long queues on the town's main roads.
