MEMBERS of the Stanford-le-Hope community gardening group, Stanford Blooming Marvels, have been celebrating after topping a shoppers' poll and winning a £500 grant from ASDA at Tilbury.

The store has hosted an online poll featuring three local good causes, inviting local people to nominate them for a cash award.

The latest poll featured the Blooming Marvels, Lady McAdden Breast Cancer and the Bluebells sheltered housing complex in Grays.

Today (Wednesday, 1 December) it was announced that the winning cause with the most votes is the Blooming Marvels, with the other two receiving £200.

Peter Watson of the Marvels says: "Thank you to the whole Stanford community for supporting us and to ASDA for the donations to good causes. This sum of money, together with other donations and support will enable us to continue planting into 2022. Thank you all again."

Voting has already started for the next three good causes which are The Community House, Elite Twirlers and Warren PTFA. You can check out those charities and vote via this link.
