PUPILS at Corringham Primary School were delighted when borough mayor Sue Little chequed in at the Herd L:anbe school this week.

The Mayor told members of the school and nursery council that the donation of £250 she was making from her charitable fund was because she had been so impressed with the pupils' behaviour and exemplary attitudes when they visited her parlour for tea last September.

She told them that she really wanted to reward them with some money that they could use to spend on school equipment.

The children have decided they will spend the money on games and activities to help make their lunchtime experience more fun and exciting.

Headteacher , Mrs Karina Garrick added how honoured she was to receive a visit from the Mayor and thanked Mrs Little for her generosity and time.

She said: "These experiences really do enhance our pupils' understanding of democracy and the rule of law - two important British Values and that it is a memorable experience to meet the Mayor, let alone have tea with her, which these children did!"
