By royal appointment! Community champion Anne gets her MBE from King Charles
THERE was a pround moment for Thurrock community stalwart Anne White yesterday (Tuesday, 14 May) as she met King Charles and received her MBE.
Anne, from Purfleet, is chair of Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions CIC and was recognised in the New Year's Honours list for her 'services to people with impairments'.
And yesterday's event at Windsor Castle was all the more memorable as it was the first investiture the King has carried out personally his cancer diagnosis was announced.
A spokesperson for Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions said: "We were delighted that Anne had a chance to chat to him.
"This MBE is richly deserved and given for her services for people with impairments.
"For those that know Anne, she has been a campaign champion in Thurrock and indeed was one of the core group of disabled people getting £500,000 towards the building of the Beehive, as well as the lowering of all the kerbs in Grays.
"She has led many other disability rights campaigns in Thurrock and said today - that 'her work is yet to be done'!
"We're sure we will see more of her going forward as she challenges and makes a positive difference in Thurrock."
