THE growing local network of lifesaving defibrillators has been boosted by two more installations in Corringham thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

Mark Yuen and Corringham-based Concept Contracts started a local fundraising appeal in March and now it has resulted in the machines being placed on the parade of shops in Woodbrooke Way (where Concept is based) and the shops on Lampits Hill.

Mark said: "A huge thank-you to everyone who donated to make this possible and for Concept Contracts Ltd for setting up the crowd funding page and coordinating the project.

Woodbrooke Way.

"With the funds raised from the generous donations from local businesses, including a large donation from Intergen as well as other public donations, we have managed to purchase 2 Public Access defibrillators with temperature controlled cases

"These are now registered on "The Circuit" the national defibrillator network, in an emergency call 999 and you can be given access. We hope that these will provide everyone in the local area the best chance of survival should a cardiac arrest ever occur. With a defibrillator (AED) used within three to five minutes this gives an astounding survival rate of 74%. With no intervention there is only a five per cent survival rate.

"We have nearly completed fundraising for a third defibrillator, we now need to find a location suitable for it, if there are any businesses within the local area happy to have it on their shop front and  provide power to it please contact me at Concept Contracts Ltd

Lampits Hill.

"Thanks again to all who supported, including Forlex Fire Protection Ltd, Hurleys Bathrooms, Tom Daly - Sealtite Sealants, Ian Kelleher – Intergen, Select Scaffolding Ltd, Janice Hamblet, Michael Thompson and Corringham Grocers

"After initiating our fundraising I was made aware of Katie's Heart Appeal who have been already installing defibrillators in the local area, the work they have done is an inspiration."
