AN application for a new solar farm in rural Thurrock is progressing through the council's planning processes.

An environmental scoping report has now been provided for the site on land to the south of Fen Lane; east of Ockendon; west of Bulphan Fen and west of Orsett Fen.

The proposed project includes an array of ground-mounted solar panels and ancillary infrastructure and it is projected that the site would run for 40 years.

The location map for the extend site shows it spans an area which is also projected to be taken up by the route of the proposed Lower Thames Crossing.

The scoping report provided to the council can be read via this link.

Two other solar farms have been granted permission within five kilometers of this site, one of which, near Bulphan, is now under construction.
