Motorbike rider suffers significant injury in A13 crash

A MOTORBIKE rider sustained a "potentially serious leg injury" after a crash that closed the A13 this morning (Saturday, 5 April).
Emergency services were alerted around 8am following a collision between the bike and a vehicle.
National Highways, who also confirmed the incident and added it involved a vehicle fire.
It said: "The A13 in Essex is closed westbound between the A1012 near North Stifford (Thurrock) and the M25/A282 due to a serious collision and vehicle fire.
"Essex emergency services are in attendance, including the Air Ambulance."
The incident closed the westbound between the A1012, at North Stifford, and the M25.
The injured rider was taken to The Royal London Hospital with an injured leg and wrist, an East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: "The rider of the motorbike has sustained a potentially serious leg injury."
A diversion was put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident.

National Highways predicted the road could be closed until around 4.15pm.
