MOTORISTS have been warned to take great care on a muddy rural road between Corringham and Basildon.

And bus services have been diverted becasue the road is impassable for its vehicles.

The B1420 (Southend Road)between the junction with Lampits Hill and the One Tree Hill roundabout is slaked with wet mud, apparently from vehicles working nearby agricultural land.

There have been several minor bumps and one vehicle has left the road.

One driver contacted Nub News around 10.30am to say: "It's really dangerous and difficult to control your car, even at slow speed the mud is so wet and slippy, wheels just slide."

Motorists and Nub News have contacted Thurrock Council's highways team who have alerted a team, said at 11.30am to be on their way to the scene.

First Bus Essex have put a diversion foir services in place for both the 100 and 200 services. A statement says: "The road between Garage Corner and White Post Corner is closed due to incident. Division is via Fobbing. 5 Bells, Garage Corner, Whitepost Corner, Lampits Lane, Fernside Close, Central Avenue and Corringham Social Club will not be served."
