THIS Saturday will see the result of a collaboration between a Thurrock musical group for youngsters and the world's top-rated brass band.

Last weekend should have seen the Cory Band from South Wales perform in Grays at the Civic Hall after earlier filling a guest slot at the Indoor Music Games which was to have been sponsored by Thurrock Marching Brass at the Basildon Sporting Village.

The Indoor Music Games is an indoor competition platform where youngsters compete in a series of competitions held across the country. The finale of this season's competitions should have been in Basildon last weekend.

Coronavirus and the lockdown put an end to that but nevertheless a collaboration was born that will bear fruit with the release of a video this Saturday (23 May).

It will feature the debut performance of a new piece written by Cory band Musical Director Philip Harper called Anthem – and many contributory bands.

Paul Morgan, Chairman of Thurrock Marching Brass said: "We are very much looking forward to seeing the initial release of the anthem in this fresh and exciting way, and then sharing it more widely, bringing together the brass band and the marching and performance worlds.

"IMG Anthem – Unity will be made available through our partner channels and beyond for everyone to join in and be a part of one big, show-stopping final edit playing alongside the Cory Band.

"Music binds so many of us across the world and we couldn't be more excited to bring this project to you all."

Thurrock Marching Brass are a non-profit organisation that specialise in tutoring the youngsters of Thurrock (primary ages between 6 and 16 years) in the marching and performing arts, including dance, drill, music theory and music performance.

The Cory Band World Premiere performance of IMG Anthem – Unity will be released on Saturday, 23 May on its YouTube and other social media channels.
