THE opening of a new independent Christian school was celebrated in Grays on Saturday (29 March).

It is located at Suite 1 of the Queensgate Centre on Orsett Road.

Headteacher Mr Afolabi Joseph delivered an impassioned speech, emphasising the school's mission to provide students with the best of both worlds: a robust academic education intertwined with strong Christian values.

"Our goal is to nurture well-rounded individuals who excel academically and grow in their faith," Mr Joseph stated.

Chair of Governors, Pastor Niyi Olujobi, reflected on the challenging journey to establish the school, which spanned over two years and included obtaining Ofsted approval.

"This has been a labour of love and dedication. We are thrilled to finally open our doors to the community," Pastor Olujobi remarked.

The launch event saw a significant turnout, with parents from Thurrock, Canvey Island, Stratford, and London in attendance.

One parent expressed their excitement, saying: "I have been waiting for this for a long time." Another parent added: "I home school my children at the moment but will be happy to send them to this school."

Admissions are now open. For more information about the school and to register interest visit https://thelight-school.org/ or email [email protected].
