New nursery will help ease shortage of places in Purfleet

A NEW nursery in Purfleet is helping ease the burden of early years care for local familes.

Little Chestnuts PreSchool has already established a name for quality care through its preschool at the Karis May Darling Centre in Corringham, which was recognised when it won the Thurrock Excellence in Early Years Care award in 2022.

Now director Jodie Lucas and her Ofsted-registered team have expanded, with a second nursery in The Vinery at the High House Production Park in Purfleet, which launched last month.

The new nursery has been established up in an area where there are very limited nursery options and it coincides with the introduction of the new two year entitlements for working families.

Jodie says: "We are a child-led setting, with a focus on curiosity and creating awe and wonder for children. I am a qualified primary teacher and our other setting in Corringham was awarded outstanding on first inspection.

"There are so many families that can't access nursery spaces in Purfleet even though they are entitled to it as there aren't enough spaces. We hope to help solve that issue."
