New post will co-ordinate arts development across the borough as part of £1 million project

A ROLE offering a salary of between £40,000 and £44,000 a year on a contract that runs until the end of March 2025 is being advertised in a bid to improve cultural provision in Thurrock.

It is part of a project announced in December last year and featured on Thurrock Nub News as part of the Arts Council England's Creative People and Places National Portfolio 2022-25 programme which is being suppported by the Arts Council, Tilbury on the Thames, Thurrock CVS, the Royal Opera House, Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions and Thurrock Council.

Following news of the securement of funds and the intention to boost art in the borough, an East Tilbury-based project management company is now advertising the role of 'Creative Director' for an organisation called START: Thurrock.

The job description says the person who fits the bill will

  • Support and enable Thurrock communities to take the lead in deciding their cultural provision
  • Motiviate and inspire Thurrock communities to engage with the arts
  • Make incredible things happen by connecting amazing artists with passionate residents
  • Connecting people across the Thurrock community to improve their place through creative work nand solutions.

The recruitment process is being managed in the first stage by East Tilbury-based Scott B Sullivan Associates and anyone interested is invited to contact Scott by email at [email protected]
