New skills hub launched in Tilbury
By Nub News Reporter 17th Sep 2026
THURROCK Council has officially launched the new Tilbury Employability and Skills Hub, a dedicated service designed to help residents gain the skills, training and support needed to access employment opportunities across the borough.
More than 40 representatives from partner organisations, including education providers, training organisations and voluntary sector groups, attended the launch event on Wednesday, 16 September to see the new hub and its training facilities.
Located in the heart of Tilbury, the hub has been established to help address local skills shortages, support residents to upskill or retrain, and ensure local people can benefit from the regeneration and economic growth taking place across Thurrock.
The hub will be open every Tuesday and Wednesday, providing free and impartial employability support with:
- careers information, advice and guidance
- job searching and applications
- CV writing and interview preparation
- apprenticeships and training opportunities
- skills development and progression pathways
- information on local employment opportunities
The service will be delivered by the council's Inspire Employability and Skills Team, which works with residents, employers and training providers to help people progress into employment, education, apprenticeships and further training.
Cllr Milena Bingley, portfolio holder for Education, Skills and Children's Services, said: "The Tilbury Employability and Skills Hub will play a vital role in helping local residents access the opportunities being created through regeneration and investment in our borough.
"We know that many employers are facing skills shortages, while residents are looking for support to develop new skills, find employment or take the next step in their careers. This hub brings that support directly into the community and ensures residents can access high-quality, impartial guidance close to home.
"Whether someone is seeking work, considering a career change, looking to develop new skills or exploring training opportunities, our Inspire team will be on hand to provide personalised support and help residents achieve their goals."
