THURROCK's number of recorded coronavirus cases rose by just three in the latest figures published by Public Health England, the lowest single day increase in many days.

The tally of infected local people, on a day when the UK figure rocketed to 88,621 cases, is 189.

Nationally there have now been 11,329 deaths.

Across Thurrock there has been support for a group of people who are making personal protection equipment for local hospitals.

A fundraising page was set up with an initial target of £500 but that has already been surpassed within a day.
