ALMOST two weeks after emergency service workers combined in a complex operation to recover two bodies from the shore of the River Thames in Grays no news has emerged about the victims - other than police say the two appear unconnected.

The bodies were discovered on the morning of Thursday, 13 February in the river at Wharf Road South, close to the Wharf pub.

The area was cordoned off and the scene was a hive of activity with emergency vehicles, including the RNLI lifeboat from Gravesend offshore, at the scene in numbers.

The two bodies, the first a woman, were lifted from the gravelly beach over the riverside wall by an Essex Fire Brigade aerial platform.

Though Essex Police managed the recovery operation they say the bodies are no longer under their jurisdiction and it is up tot eh Essex Coroner's Office to pass on any information. However, the word from the Coroner's Office is : "We have no information to share at this time."
