Not all heroes wear capes: Crochet superstar Stanley proves he's a great knit once again!

By Neil Speight 6th Dec 2021

A STANFORD-le-Hope schoolboy has been warmly praised by his local community for his latest fundraising efforts.

Last year Nub News reported on the activities of Stanley Jackson, a self-taught crocheter, who boosted the local poppy appeal by making and selling poppies.

Since then Stanley, a pupil at Stanford Primary School, has continued his fundraising efforts and from the sale of his goods recently made a donation to Thurrock Foodbank.

He has also hosted stalls at various fundraising community events including the Corringham Lights event, a shopping night at Thameside Nature Park and the Christmas Fayre yesterday (Saturday, 4 December) at Gable Hall School.

Stanley has also produced a number of items including post box toppers, to bright up local communities.

And he has shared his skills and helped teach other people how to crochet.

You can check out Stanley's items for sale and how he might help you learn to crochet via his website or Facebook page.

His work has won lots of local plaudits, perhaps best summed up by this one on social media 'Not all heroes wear capes!'
