STANFORD-le-Hope has officially welcomed its new vicar with the licencing service taking place at St Margaret's Church for Rev Tom Rout.

The service was well attended by parishioners but also broadcast live on social media.

Rev Rout, whose wife and children were also present, said: "Thank you all so much for your welcome to St Margaret's.

"The service was a wonderful occasion and we felt surrounded by the love and support of the church family, Bishop John, Archdeacon Mike, the Deanery chapter, the patrons CPAS, local community representatives and many others too, including those following the service on Facebook.

"We look forward to many happy years serving God here with you!"
