THE fundraising efforts of local runners has resulted in a donation to the Essex Wildlife Trust's Thameside Nature Discovery Park.

The park, at Mucking, played host to 5 and 10K runs on Sunday, 25 May organised by Pheonix Striders Running Club. A children's 1K fun run also took place.

Striders' chairman Peter Eates returned to the park recently to present a donation of just over £1,500 to the Essex Wildlife Trust, received by its local site manager Jimmy Allan, one of his last tasks before moving to a new role with the Trust's parks in the Colchester area.

Mr Allan said: "We gratefully received a wonderful donation of just over £1500 from The Phoenix Striders following their well supported runs on May Bank Holiday weekend - thanks to all runners, families and supporters and of course to the wonderful volunteer marshals, those on car park duty and assisting in the centre on the day."
