Pedestrian injured in late night incident. Police investigation continues

POLICE are investigating an incident in Stanford-le-Hope last night when a pedestrian was struck and injured by a vehicle, reported to be a white van.

Police and ambulance services attended.

It happened close to the junction linking Scratton Road and Corringham Road.

Corringham Road was closed earlier this morning (Thursday, 21 May), while a forensic investigation took place but is now open.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We're investigating a collision in Scratton Road, Stanford-le-Hope, which was reported to us at 10.45pm last night, Wednesday 20 May.

"A van had collided with a pedestrian, a woman.

She was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury which thankfully is not life-threatening. She has since been discharged.

"At this stage, no arrests have been made in relation to the collision, and our enquiries are ongoing as we seek to build a full picture around the circumstances of the incident.

"There is a policing presence in the area this morning and that will continue throughout the day."
