GUESTS and volunteers recently enjoyed afternoon tea at Tilbury's International Cruise terminal at the latest gathering of Thurrock Re-engage branch members.
The day's festivities included a 102nd birthday tribute to Corringham centenarian Gwen Lewis.
Re-engage Thurrock, which supports lonely, vulnerable and elderly people across the borough, came together at tea party at the terminal where Angela Gilbey provided the entertainment.
Regional organiser Loraine Coleman said: "Re-engage Thurrock's ten tea party groups had the most wonderful time.
"A very big thank you to Meenu from the Port of Tilbury for arranging this very special afternoon for us. Cara, Lorna and their Ascot ladies kindly donated the most delicious afternoon tea for all our ten tea party groups — a huge thank you to them all.
"And thanks also to Angie, our fabulous Re-engage friend and entertainer, who travelled from Great Bentley to sing all our favourite songs and even got our lovely Gwen dancing as we celebrated her 102nd birthday. We also celebrated seven other birthdays too!

"Maggie and Lewis beautifully laid out the tables with such lovely crockery, and Michelle from Crumb-Didili- Yum donated the beautiful cupcakes. Thank-you.
"The biggest thank you goes to all our wonderful volunteers for driving and looking after our guests. Without their kindness and dedication, these very special tea parties simply could not take place.
"Our tea party was a truly wonderful afternoon filled with celebration, friendship, joy and many treasured memories."
