THURROCK Council is being lobbied and a petition has been launched in a bid to solve a parking problem that is causing friction between residents in a local community.

The issue has arisen at Fortin Way in South Ockendon where residents are hoping Thurrock council will create an access to alleviate parking problems.

The petition, on the Chanmge.org website, has been set up by resident Leanne Eaton who is calling on the council to 'enable a direct access road so we can facilitate parking for nine houses'.

On behalf of fellow residents she adds: "This change will help reduce stress and disagreements between residents. We currently have a green space in front of the nine houses with no access to parking.

"Unfortunately we share a forecourt with four other houses who have their driveways but no dropped kerb implemented. Therefore it causes disruption and first come first serve for a parking space, leaving people having to park a long walk from home. Especially those of us who have very small children, and some with disabilities.

"The solution is to have the access road so residents of numbers 66 to 82 can park directly on their front garden and numbers no.64-58 can park on their drive away with no disruption. Please sign to help push the petition and move this forward."

The petition can be found here.
