AN application has been submitted to Thurrock council to create a pitch gypsy/traveller site close to Corringham and Fobbing.

The site at Manor View, Southend Road, near the Five Bells Roundabout would comprise six mobile homes, two touring caravans, one day room and a static caravan used as a day room.

A number of previous applications for the site - going back to 2013 - have been refused, but the site has remained occupied and in use.

The application has been submitted by Reigate-based planning consultants WS Planning & Architecture who describe the existing site as a 'temporary gypsy/traveller site - even though no planning permission was ever granted.

In their submission to the council they say the site does not have, nor will have, 'any existing vehicle parking spaces' -even though vehicles and caravans are already on the site.

Thurrock Council is inviting comments on the proposal - which can be submitted via this link.
