POLICE are following up a number of calls and public concern after a man dressed as a schoolgirl was photographed in Stanford-le-Hope this morning outside local schools.

The man, who appeared somewhat unsteady when walking and later got into a silver car, which drove on pavements, provoked enough anxiety for a number of concerns to be raised with Essex Police, who have confirmed they are investigating.

The man, who was first spotted in Stanford town centre around 9.45am close to Stanford Primary School, was later seen in his car on Butts Lane, close to St Clere's secondary. Observers reported to Thurrock Nub News that his driving appeared erratic and he hit the kerb a number of times.

He was later seen leaving Stanford and driving eastwards, towards Basildon, on the A13.
