Police at scene in Corringham following reported find of body. Petrol station also cordoned off

IT is reported that a body has been discovered in a car park in Corringham.

An alert was raised in the late afternoon today (Thursday, 29 July).

The car park on the junction of Lampits Hill and Giffords Cross Road has been cordoned off, as has the adjacent Esso petrol station on Fobbing Road where it is believed police are reviewing CCTV footage. Police remain on site.

A forensic tent is in position on the car park.

A resident who lives adjacent to the car park told Nub News: "I came out around 5pm. There was a body of a young man in the car park and a woman was extremely distraught. Police were on site at the time, I think what happened was just after 4pm."

A number of ambulance service vehicles gave now left the scene (7.15pm).
