Police batter down door to gain entry and find drugs and weapons. Five arrested.

FIVE people were arrested following a police raid on a Thurrock home yesterday and though since released they remain under investigation.

The raid took place at Third Avenue, West Thurrock, when Essex Police's operational support group executed a warrant under section 23 of the misuse of drugs act.

Entry members of the operational group forced the door of the property Thurrock police officers entered and initiated a search and seized a total of 60 exhibits that ranged from suspected class B and A drugs, weapons and what they believe to be a CS canister.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We executed a warrant and during our search we found a number of items which we are connecting to drug use, including quantities of what is believed to be cannabis and Class A drugs, mobile phones and weapons.

"We arrested five people during the warrant. A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, possession of an offensive weapon, handling stolen goods.

"In addition a 30-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy, a 21-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug.

"They have all been released under investigation."
