Police call for witnesses after horrific attack on woman walking pet with her family

ESSEX police are appealing for information following an attack by an unleashed dog on a Thurrock woman.

The terrifying incident was reported on Thurrock Nub News when victim Penny told of her ordeal in the jaws of the dog as she attempted to save her own pet.

A statement from police says: "We were called by the ambulance service at around 3.10pm on Sunday, 20 September with reports a woman had been bitten by a dog in Hockley Woods.

The woman, who is her 30s, was walking her dog when another dog described as white mastiff type dog ran over.

"This dog then caused lacerations to the woman's stomach, which required hospital treatment.

The victim reported that the dog's owner left the scene and he is described as being white, around 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall, bald and wore glasses, a yellow t-shirt and three quarter length shorts.

"She reported that the dog was wearing a Julius K9 style collar in a camouflage style. The dog was referred to by 'Ernie' and had sandy patches on its coat.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Rayleigh police station on 101 quoting incident 655 of 20/09 or you can visit www.essex.police.uk.
