Police confirm arrests - and release - of men following assaults and disturbance in heart of Grays

POLICE have confirmed an incident that took place in Grays town centre yesterday (Wednesday, 14 June).

Onlookers reported a clash between a number of people which resulted in one person receiving a face wound from what appeared to be a sword or machette.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called to Brooke Road in Grays shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, 14 June following reports of a disturbance. 

"Officers arrested a 19-year-old man and a 37-year-old man on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.

"They have both since been released on bail. 

"One man received minor injuries."
