Police confirm death of man in Dock Approach Road crash

POLICE have confirmed that a man in his twenties died in a crash on the Tilbury Docks approach Road (A1089) this afternoon (21 September).

He was the passenger in a van involved in a collision with a HGV that caused the blockage of both carriageways on the road as the air ambulance and other emergency service attended. It happened close to close to the exit for Marshfoot Road.

The driver of the van has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A police statement this evening says: "We have arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink. He remains in custody for questioning.

"Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to call our Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident 764 of 21/09.
